About UsUnder The Leadership of NYRA Headquarters: www.youthrights.org
The National Youth Rights Association is the nation’s premier youth rights organization. NYRA (pronounced NYE-ruh) is a youth-led national non-profit dedicated to fighting for the civil rights and liberties of young people. In the grand tradition of past civil rights movements, we seek to write a new chapter and create a world where people are not judged by their birth date, but by their talent, their intelligence, their integrity, and their competence. Our mission centers on challenging age discrimination against young people, both in law and in attitudes. Many of the basic freedoms afforded to Americans in the Bill of Rights are withheld from youth, and not without troubling consequences for both youth and society as a whole. |
Who We Are |
The National Youth Rights Association is dedicated to defending the civil and human rights of young people in the United States. We believe certain basic rights are intrinsic parts of American citizenship and transcend age or status limits. As the world’s leading democracy, the United States should not lag behind other nations in granting first-class citizenship to its young people. NYRA aims to achieve its goals through educating people about youth rights, empowering young people to work on their own behalf in defense of their rights, and taking positive steps to lessen the burden of ageism.
As an Chapter we are determined to defending the civil and human rights of young people in Hudson County. We also want to educate others about youth rights because as the nation's leading democracy (United States) it must give it's young people Constitutional, Human & Civil rights! |
